The headline says it all - what a fantastic performance from all the Girls who represented DDFC in a triumphant win.

Coach Ben, who has been working each week on specific team drills, was so proud to see the Girls come together and put in such a strong performance, against a team who beat us only a few months ago.

Ben said a few words on the day:
"It was seeing them keep their positioning and structure better which I was so proud off, it's something we have been working on in training, so I was happy they took that into the match - for me Alicia was player of the game, scoring 4 goals and being such a threat on the pitch, but I am proud of everyone's performance, onto the next match and hopefully we'll continue how we finished"

Charlie makes the England U23s Futsal Squad

Daryl Moore

DDFC Head Coach, Charlie, was recently called up by the England U23s Futsal squad. For those of you who haven't heard of Futsal, it's a variant of football played on a indoor, hard court that is smaller than a normal football pitch. The rules are pretty much the same as 11-a-side football but the game is much quicker and places a lot of emphasis on technical ability and quick decision making in limited space under high pressure.

Many of the top world class footballers played Futsal in their youth and credit it with supporting their footballing development; players of the calibre of Pele, Zico, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar to name but a few.

His form has also earned him a transfer to one of the best sides in the country, Baku United who played in the Champions League of Futsal a couple of seasons ago, being knocked out by Barcelona in the quarter finals.

We wish wish him all the best with his Futsal career and will hopefully see him in the England First Team soon!

It was a match which has gone down in Dragons history.

The Dragons were dominating the game from the off and by the end of the first half, rarely allowing LSS the opportunity to cross the halfway line, despite both teams being able to be 1-0 up.

Despite a very technical opposition, DDFC played like finalists by winning their first, second and third chances of the ball. The whole team played with immense passion and structure to keep the pressure on. After both teams hitting the woodwork, the final whistle blew at 0-0, with the referee telling each team they had 5 minutes of extra time then penalties.

Coach Charlie and Daryl changed our formation of 3-2-1 to 2-2-2, in the hope we can win the Final in ET. The referee blew the whistle to start extra time and The Dragons marched up the field with great passing, until time stopped when George B struck the ball and hitting the back of the net. 1-0 DRAGONS!! After a crowd of nearly 100 people watched and cheered on, there was still a very long 4 minutes to play. LSS came back strong, attacking in numbers and producing fantastic long shots - the final minute, we got the ball up to the oppositions corner, crossed the ball high into the penalty area, only for The Dragons to volley in our second GOAL to go 2-0 up.

The referee blew the final whistle and around 40 players and parents ran on the field to celebrate our win. DDFC U8s WINNERS OF 2016/2017 CUP..

CONGRATULATIONS ALL - You made the club so proud!!!
